Passive fit failure happens when a lab designs the internal surface geometry of the crown or bridge without accounting for scanner-to-mill tolerances or without verifying fit against an analog model before shipping. Shade and morphology mismatches happen when the lab treats an implant crown like a routine posterior crown without factoring in the gingival architecture and adjacent tooth characteristics that determine how the restoration will look in situ. Component incompatibility happens when the lab does not confirm the implant system and connection type before fabricating the abutment.

System Verification and Compatibility Confirmation Before Fabrication

Before any implant case enters fabrication, we confirm your implant system and connection type. We are compatible with Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Zimmer Biomet, Dentsply Sirona, BioHorizons, and the majority of other systems in use across the Bronx and New York. If you are working with a less common system or a newer platform, we verify component availability before you submit the case so there are no surprises at delivery.

Implant cases require more precise submission information than conventional restorative cases. When you contact us to set up an implant case, we walk you through exactly what we need from your scan file and prescription to fabricate a restoration that fits correctly.

Scan-to-Model Accuracy Review That Catches Errors Before Milling

Implant-level scans require accurate scan body seating and sufficient scan coverage around the implant platform. Abutment-level scans require clear margin capture at the abutment-tissue interface. Before an implant case enters the digital design phase, we review your scan for these requirements specifically. A scan with an improperly seated scan body or insufficient margin coverage will not produce a passively fitting restoration, and we catch that at intake rather than discovering it when the crown is tried in.

Digital Design for Passive Fit Verified Against the Analog Model

We design the internal surface geometry of every implant restoration against a precise digital model, with passive fit as the primary design constraint. After design and milling, passive fit is verified against the analog model before the case ships. A restoration that does not demonstrate passive fit on the analog does not get shippe;, it gets identified, diagnosed, and corrected at the laboratory leve,l where the fix is a fabrication adjustment, not a patient recall.

Esthetic Zone Implant Cases Treated With the Same Characterization as Natural Teeth

An implant crown in the anterior zone exists in a context: adjacent natural teeth, existing gingival architecture, and a patient who can see the result every time they look in a mirror. We apply the same translucency layering, shade characterization, and surface texture work to anterior implant crowns that we apply to esthetic veneers and anterior crowns. The implant origin of the crown should be invisible in the final result.

Turnaround and Submission
